Comparison:

  • DVD Version
Release: Dec 28, 2013 - Author: Muck47 - Translator: Tony Montana - external link: IMDB - more from this series
Compared are the TV Version and the DVD Version, the latter represented by the US DVD Set "Volume 11".

6 differences (among them 2x censored audio track, 2x alternate footage)
Length difference: 68.9 sec

The numbers are still confusing but at least one DVD set now contains an entire season instead of episodes from two seasons, as it used to be the case with previous DVD releases. As a result, "Volume 11" (US) / "Season 12" (UK) contains all the episode of Season 10. Compared to the TV Versions, the DVD Versions are uncensored and uncut.

Episode 7 ("Amish Guy") is more than 1 minute longer. The biggest difference is the new Garfield scene at the beginning where Garfield creator Jim Darvis is being criticized. Also eye-catching is the censored shot of Peter with his pants down and his more explicit comment in a cutaway. The remaining differences are cuts made to reach the usual length for broadcast.

More dialog at the dinner table in the DVD Version plus Peter makes an explicit critical comment against Garfield resp. the man in charge (Jim Davis).

At first, Peter responds to the accusation of being fat with a Garfield quote: "'I'm not overweight. I'm under tall.' GarfieId, 1982. Speaking of which, do you wanna read something seriously messed up? Go out and pick up, Garfield: His 9 Lives."
While doing so, he holds up the book he's refering to: "An absolutely bizarre, fucked-up piece of fiction. Half of them aren't funny. They're just artsy, scary and disturbing. Why did you do Garfield: His 9 Lives, Jim Davis? Why did you do that dark freaky one where Garfield kills that oId woman? You wanna see a picture? Look at this."
Now a shot of an vicious cat: "This is an actual picture from the book. 'Hey. Nice to see you Garfield. What's the matter? You a little agitated? Out to commit murder?' Come on, Jim, your job is to give us yuks. A job you do damn well, make no mistake. That's why old Peter's giving you a get-out-of-jail-free card on this one. But I don't wanna see another one of those. All right? 'Cause it scared the bejesus out of me. And I had to sleep with my mother for a week."
He's getting in his regular position: "I am quite finished."
Then Joe gets started: "Peter, if you want to ride that roller coaster..."

The TV Version goes back plus the animation the DVD Version also starts with subsequently is slightly different at the beginning.
Joe begins with his comment: "Yeah, if you want to ride that roller coaster..."
