Comparison:

  • Theatrical Version
  • Director's Cut
Release: Jun 23, 2015 - Author: MajoraZZ - Translator: Tony Montana - external link: IMDB
Compared are the Theatrical Version and the Director's Cut.

Fans are probably hoping for a huge comparison with several fascinating details in the Director's Cut. Well, that is not the case I'm afraid. There are some marginal differences every now an then but that is it. Mostly, trivial scenes have a lower/higher frames per second rate. Sometimes, a few frames have been added/removed and as for new scenes, there is only one in the Director's Cut and this one is so superfluous, it looks like filling material.
I guess it depends on someone's taste whether or not one should buy the Director's Cut when the Theatrical Version is already in one's possession. Personally, I prefer the Theatrical Version.

By the way: the coloring is different in the Director's Cut. For more information, please click here.

In January 2014, the US Blu-ray was released. This Blu-ray only contains the Theatrical Version plus the Willie Dixon scene in the movie (Theatical Version + additional scene, if you will).
In January 2015 however, the UK Blu-ray (the so-called "Limited Slipcase Edition") was released and it contains both the Theatrical Version and the Director's Cut. This Blu-ray is limited to 3,000 units. The Theatrical Version is only available in the "Limited Slipcase Edition", the regular UK Blu-ray released in February 2015 only contains the Director's Cut.
