Compared are the TV Version and the extended DVD Version (both available on the DVD Box "Volume 8").
2 new / extended scene + 1 audio modification Difference: 53.2 sec Family Guy is a huge success on FOX. But some modifications need to be made to get permission to air it on FOX because some gags are too rude for TV. Other gags have only been removed to reach the appropiate length for an episode on TV, which means not all the differences were made due to censorship. Nevertheless there are still enough hilarious, outrages gags in it so that fans are gonna have lots of fun with watching the TV Version on FOX. (I'm speaking from experience.) BTW It airs every sunday evening on FOX. That's really nice because you can also watch the new American Dad episode and new episode of The Cleveland Show. So you've got a terrific triple feature. And when you're watching FOX anyway, you can also watch the latest Simpsons episode. I can really imagine worse evening than watching the latest episodes of the series by Seth MacFarlane plus some new adventures of Homer & Co. The latest DVD box of Family Guy is available since 06.15.2010 in the US. "Volume 8" ignores the regular counting again and contains the episodes 10 to 16 from season 7 plus episodes 1 to 8 from season 8. To make it more cunfusing, the equivalent UK release is called "Season 9" and was released 01. November 2010. But then again the fans should already be familiar with that confusion. So let's cut it out and talk about the DVD release itself, which contains longer DVD Versions again (with an average of 1 - 2 more minutes of footage per episode). As in the previous seasons, some of the scenes needed to be removed for time reasons, other were just too rude for TV. That's why they either got cut out or modified. The Original TV Version is also on board. The DVD Version of the last episode of "Volume 8", episode 8x08 ("Dog Gone"), contains two additional scenes. Both were removed for timme reasons and are quite nice. Moreover some swear words were censored, nothing unusual. Audio modification
05:33-05:37 Several beeps when Brian complains: "Why don't you shut your god damn mouth for once and go home and fuck your wife in the face!"
08:59 Additional scene after Stewie's and Consuela's phone conversation: Peter wants a read a magazine while he's taking a dump but Consuela interrupts him there as well. Exterior shot of the house. Then Peter enters the bathroom. He sits and right when he wants to start reading, he hears the sound of the vacuum cleaner. Peter sighs, then the noise breaks off. Suddenly she's standing in the bathroom, Peter gets frightened and says: "Jeez, can you give me a break here?" Consuela: "I clean toilet." Peter: "What?" Consuela: "I clean toilet." Peter: "What are you doing? I'm on the john." Consuela: "Is okay." Peter: "Please leave!" Consuela: "Oh, okay." She leaves and Peter continues reading. At the same time, she reenters the bathroom. This time she has a lamp in her hand. Consuela: "This trash?" Peter: "Trash? What? No, that's a functioning lamp." Consuela: "No. Is okay. I take home." She leaves again and Peter finally asks: "What the hell is happening right now?" (in the audience's direction) 45.5 sec
16:49 After the fat family got their recently born burgers, the DVD Version goes on with another cutaway gag. The popular "Hang in there!" poster cat complains. Narrator: "In photography studios." The cat complains while pictures are being taken of her: "Get me the fuck down from here. What am I, a fucking clown?" The photographer to his associate: "Humans will chuckle to this." 7.7 sec
