Compared are the TV Version and the extended DVD Version (both available on the DVD Box "Volume 7").
6 new / extended scenes, two of them with alternate footage plus one recut (+ 1 in the TV premiere on FOX)
+ 4 audio modifications, two of them with alternate footage
Difference: 91.5 sec (= 1:32 min)
Family Guy is a huge success on FOX. But some modifications need to be made to get permission to air it on FOX because some gags are too rude for TV. Other gags have only been removed to reach the appropiate length for an episode on TV, which means not all the differences were made due to censorship. Nevertheless there are still enough hilarious, outrages gags in it so that fans are gonna have lots of fun with watching the TV Version on FOX. (I'm speaking from experience.)
BTW It airs every sunday evening on FOX. That's really nice because you can also watch the new American Dad episode and new episode of The Cleveland Show. So you've got a terrific triple feature. And when you're watching FOX anyway, you can also watch the latest Simpsons episode. I can really imagine worse evening than watching the latest episodes of the series by Seth MacFarlane plus some new adventures of Homer & Co.
The US Box-Set "Volume 7" includes all shortened TV versions as bonus material on the DVDs.
Unfortunately they took small pains with the box packaging. Whereas all the discs of the previous seasons were stored in several slim cases packed in a stable case, the "Volume 7" discs come up in a single Amaray Case. The listing of the episodes without the summaries can be found on the back of the cover. The ensemble is encased by an O-Ring.
Though it's a minor matter, it's a bummer. Apart from that the release is again equipped with lots of bonus features and contains audio commentaries for all episodes.
Episode 7x08 "Family Gay" needed to be modified pretty roughly before it could broadcast. As the title already indicates, there are lots of gay jokes in it which couldn't go on air. Furthermore there's the usual censorship of swear words and the well-known problem with mentally disability. The word "retarded" pops up three times and has been replaced by "brain damaged" or just simply removed. A reference to Jesus needed to be removed as well.
BTW The TV premiere was lacking a tiny conversation between Peter and Chris, as noted.
Time index refers to the TV Version.
Audio modification / Alternate footage
Re-recorded sentence plus harsher choice of words.
TV: "You have an eye for animals, Lois, this horse is brain-damaged."
DVD: "You have an eye for animals, Lois, this horse is retarded."
TV Version 0.2 sec longer
Audio modification / Alternate footage
Lois says "Peter, I don't think it's wise to have a brain-damaged horse as a house pet" in the TV Version but she uses the word "retadred" in the DVD Version.
TV Version 0.3 sec longer
The following comment is entirely missing in the TV Version. Peter explains to Lois why that horse doesn't move at all.
"He's retarded, Lois. You should understand, you're married to a retarded man."
He nudges her and repeats the last words with a high-pitched voice.
In the DVD Version, Herbert is allowed to swear without getting beeped: "This whole place is a giant mindfuck!"

Lois also says: "I mean, you're not gay."
Stewie mumbles sth. and Brian asks: "What?"
Stewie: "I said 'Homosexuality is wrong'!"
Brian: "Are you being serious right now?"
Stewie: "Just keep it in the bedroom, you know. I mean, I'm not all in your face with my heterosexuality."
Brian smoothly replies: "Ah, no, you're not."
Alternate footage / Recut
Now the dialog between Brian and Stewie, which was removed beforehand, after Lois tried one of Peter's muffins (as a result of that, her comment has been removed here).
In the DVD Version instead, Peter reveals the secret ingridient. Then a shot with the boys at the bar.
Lois: "What's the secret ingredient?"
(Which is obviously a variation of the words "spooge" and "cum".)
Lois is disgusted and spits it out immediately.
Peter: "What? You thought..."
He laughs and explains: "No, no. Spugizakom. It's a sugar substitute from the Czech republic."
Peter presents the package to the camera: "That's right. Spugizakom."
Then he says sth. in a foreign language, presumably Czech.
Now we're at the Drunken Clam. Peter stirs in his cocktail. Joe can't hold it back anymore: "All right, I'll say it. What the hell are you drinking?"
Peter: "A pomptini. It's a pomegranate martini. I read about them in the latest issue of InStyle. They're what Courtney Thorne-Smith served at her second bachelorette party."
He reaches for the drink and sips theatrically.
Quagmire: "So, uh, you guys feel like watching the game at my house on Sunday?"
Cleveland and Joe agree, Peter starts talking to him from the left: "Hey, Quagmire. Quagmire."
Quagmire horrifed: "Yeah?"
Peter: "I'll be there."
It's getting too awkward for the other two guys, Joe says: "Well, I think, I'd better get going..."
Peter: "Yeah, why don't you and Cleveland both get going."
They get up and Quagmire yells in horror: "Hey, where are you guys going?"
He looks at Peter and says determinedly: "All right, if we're going to do this, we're going to do it my way."
DVD Version 49.9 sec longer
screens only taken from the DVD Version
Extended questioning of Reagan and Gorbatschow. Both of them are coming up with sexual references all the time.
A reporter wants to know: "Did you discuss ICBM's?"
Reagan: "Well, I did see a BM."
Both laugh and another reporter asks: "So, did you consider this a successful summit?"
Reagan: "Oh, yes. I summited three times?"
The first reporter again: "Are you finished with the butt-fucking puns?"
Stewie comment to Peter coming out of the closet: "Yeah, well I think that's perfectly disgusting. And you know, every time you do it, you're basically sodomizing Jesus. I just want to point that out to you."
Peter says "Oh god, I feel like I a kid in the candy store - who's having sex with a bunch of gay guys." in both versions.
But only the DVD Version contains a shot of him sitting in the middle of 10 other gay guys. The TV Version shows an exterior shot of the bedroom instead and the comment comes from the off.
After the horse landed on the Griffin's table, Mort says "Take back your fucking horse!" from the off. The F-Word has been beeped in the TV Version.

Only in the premiere broadcast on FOX, the following scene was missing (just before Peter's muffins are ready).
Chris: "Dad, now that you are gay, I don't have to have sex with you, do I?"
Peter: "Not unless you want to..."
He hums the melody from Twilight Zone and moves his hands.
