Rob Zombie's thriller "The Devil's Rejects" got an R-rating from the MPAA only with cut-obligations. Concerning sexual violence the movie is very intense and brutal indeed. Surprisingly, much of that is still in the cut version: no scenes were cut out completely, but mostly short parts of shots were cut out or got replaced by more harmless shots. This way not much of the atmosphere of the film is lost, despite the many cuts.


The shorter theatrical version was released on DVD only in the USA, as a full-screen-version.



Altogether there are 57 cuts/changes:
- 20 cuts of pure violence
- 22 cuts of violence with a sexual touch
- 11 cuts of pure erotic
- 4 cuts for another reason
(20 of the cuts contain alternate footage in the r-rated version)

- 3 cuts in the unrated version
- 16 scenes that run a little faster in the unrated version

Comment on the report:

• Cuts that have a time specification of both the unrated version and the r-rated version include only the footage missing in the other version, respectively.

For this report the theatrical version (r-rated), featured on the US-DVD from Lions Gate, was compared to the unrated version, featured on the German DVD from Sunfilm.
