Difference: 22.7 sec
Family Guy is a huge success on FOX. But some modifications need to be made to get permission to air it on FOX because some gags are too rude for TV. Other gags have only been removed to reach the appropiate length for an episode on TV, which means not all the differences were made due to censorship. Nevertheless there are still enough hilarious, outrages gags in it so that fans are gonna have lots of fun with watching the TV Version on FOX. (I'm speaking from experience.)
BTW It airs every sunday evening on FOX. That's really nice because you can also watch the new American Dad episode and new episode of The Cleveland Show. So you've got a terrific triple feature. And when you're watching FOX anyway, you can also watch the latest Simpsons episode. I can really imagine worse evening than watching the latest episodes of the series by Seth MacFarlane plus some new adventures of Homer & Co.
The latest DVD box of Family Guy is available since 06.15.2010 in the US. "Volume 8" ignores the regular counting again and contains the episodes 10 to 16 from season 7 plus episodes 1 to 8 from season 8. To make it more cunfusing, the equivalent UK release is called "Season 9" and was released 01. November 2010. But then again the fans should already be familiar with that confusion. So let's cut it out and talk about the DVD release itself, which contains longer DVD Versions again (with an average of 1 - 2 more minutes of footage per episode). As in the previous seasons, some of the scenes needed to be removed for time reasons, other were just too rude for TV. That's why they either got cut out or modified. The Original TV Version is also on board.
The DVD Version of episode 8x04 ("Brian's Got A Brand New Bag") has a new plot scene and an additional comment of Peter's. Furthermore two scenes have been beeped because the word "Jesus Christ" is being used to swear. There's also a rough comment from Lois but the scene doesn't need new animations or sth. because she says it when she's with Peter in a darkened bedrrom.
After Peter used the Road House kick against Lois in bed, she complains the follwing way in the TV Version (while the screen is black btw):
"For god's sakes, if you're gonna do that, at least aim for my breasts."
In the DVD Version, she says "nipples" instead.
Bobby yells at Whitney Houston: "Get the fucking crack!"
Brian defends Rita one more time, which leads to another cutaway gag.
Brian: "She's not that old. Old is Malcolm in the Middle in Season 15."
Then the mentioned scene. Malcolm's little brother comes in his room: "Malcolm, Dad drove the car over your science project."
Malcolm, with grey hair and deep voice: "Oh, brother! How am I gonna survive junior high-school with this screwed-up family? And me, in the middle of it all. A bunch of brothers living together? What a way to run a railroad."
Different comment of Brian. As a result of that, the animation is different.
TV Version: "For God's sake, Rita!"
DVD Version: "Jesus Christ!"
Before he finally arrives at the "balls", Peter opens another page in the DVD Version.
Comment: "Not sure I like chiseled quads so close to a vagina."
Censored TV Version, uncensored DVD Version: "You know what ? Just take your fucking keys. I don't know what the fuck you're talking about."
