Twilight: Breaking Dawn Pt. 2 Will be Prolonged
The last months delivered some disappointments for film fans. While announcements were made for extended versions of Prometheus and Resident Evil: Retribution, the prolonged cut for Prometheus was cancelled and the one for RE 5 seems to be totally ignored. Let's hope that this doesn't turn out the same way with Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2. Here, director Bill Condon recently announced that there will be an extended version for the home cinema releases.
And that might turn out as a double benefit. On the one hand, the film was censored for a PG-13 rating and on the other hand, fans can rejoice because even though the saga is over, there's still a little more to come on Blu-ray.
Unfortunately, Bill Condon is quite sure that the extended cut will have a PG-13, too. The compromises for the theatrical version (e.g. the sound effects of the beheadings) will most likely be present here, as well. Twilight has an important and still very young target audience and they don't have anything to do with unrated versions.
Breaking Dawn Pt. 2 is currently in theaters. The extended cut will follow in 2013.
