Killer Joe Gets Additional R-Rated Version
He complained and argued. Director William Friedkin wasn't happy at all when the MPAA classified his latest film Killer Joe with the infamous NC-17. After a appeal that did not change the rating, he declared regarding a censored version of his film:
But that's exactly what happened now. The MPAA lists a censored version of Killer Joe in the latest bulletin. R-Rated for strong and disturbing violence, sexuality, graphic nudity, drug use and language. The film will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on December 21st, 2012 and customers will have to watch out what they buy. While the DVD will only contain the R-Rated version, the Blu-ray will include both the R-Rated and NC-17 version of the thriller. While the distributor decided to surrender the NC-17 rating, they will therefore advertise it as Unrated Director's Cut.
