Comparison:

  • US TV Version (ABC)
  • Uncut
Release: Feb 28, 2016 - Author: Tony Montana - Translator: Tony Montana - external link: IMDB
Compared are the cut US TV Version (12/28/2013 / ABC) and the uncut German Blu-ray (FSK o.A. = all audiences).

8 differences, consisting of
- 4 removed scenes
- 3 scenes with an alternate image section
- 1 alternate shot with alternate audio
- Total difference: 252.96 sec resp. 4 min und 12.96 sec

Please note: The length difference only illustrates the actual difference regarding cuts etc. Things like the information regarding the image section right at te beginning of the US TV Version or the fades to black due to commercial breaks are going to be mentioned in the comparison but they have not been considered in the process of calculating the length difference.

For the broadcast on ABC, a few alterations were made. Some things were probably to "delicate".

The movie itself is the usual "romcom crap": Man & woman (in this case Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston) have known each other like forever, only to realize after almost 2 hours of embarrassment and bad jokes that "The One" has always been right in front of them. If you're into it...

Time index refers to the
uncut Blu-ray.

Only the US TV Version contains the following info text: "This film has been modified from its original version. It has been formatted t fit the screen, to run in the time alloted, and edited for content."
The following black screen however is a few frames longer in the Uncut Version.

US TV Version 4 sec longer

The description of the girl is a little shorter in the US TV Version: "Blond, tanned, tall, rocking body, nipples."
Apparently, the nasty word "nipple" was too much.

After Katherine explains the origin of the term "Making a devlin", Danny asks "What are we gonna do about my love life though?" in the US TV Version.
In the Uncut Version, Danny explains: "I always call it 'Making a black pickle'."
Katherine asks: "Making a what?"
Danny: "I don't say that…"
Katherine: "…out loud…"
Danny: "…to others, no."
Katherine: "Good."
Danny then asks about his love life in the Uncut Version as well.

18:46

Due to a commercial break, the US TV Version fades to black. Same thing in reverse when the movie continues.

Removed Scene
19:53

When Danny explains to Palmer that the name of his soon-to-be ex-wife is Devlin, the US TV Version lacks his remark "Isn’t that a shitty name?".

29:16

Due to a commercial break, the US TV Version fades to black. Same thing in reverse when the movie continues.

Alternate Image Section
33:04

Contentwise, the versions are identical. However, the US TV Version zooms in on the action. In addition to that, the soda can has been blurred. Probably to avoid product placement.

Please note: Throughout Danny's conversation with Michael, the US TV Version keeps zooming in on the latter while the shots of the former are identical. Since this is always the same shot/angle, the comparison does not go into detail here. Especially because the content remains unchanged.

Another one of Danny's "hilarious" comment has been removed for US TV. *yawn*

Alternate Image Section
01:14:21

And again, the US TV Version zooms in on the action. Contrary to the previous scene, it kind of makes sense here because this scene shows Palmer standing in front of Danny completely nude. In the US TV Version, one can only see her right arm while one gets to see her naked from behind in the Uncut Version. Well, at least from the waist up.

Alternate Shot / Alternate Audio Track
01:20:47

Wenn Eddie resp. Dolph is supposed to help the sheep, an alternate take has been used. Furthermore, he only says "OK." in the US TV Version. In the Uncut Version, he says "Oh, shit on me.".

Alternate Image Section
01:38:54

When Michael hits the head at night, the US TV Version contains a different image section when he drops his pants and gets on the can. Also, it takes longer until Eddie aka Dolph, who is sleeping in the tub, wakes up and runs wild in the Uncut Version.

End Credits
01:51:24

The US TV Version only contains the first credits listing the names of the main cast one after another. The remaining credits are missing resp. ABC advertizes their own shows while there are self-made credits at the bottom. The Uncut Version contains the regular credits.
