In 1950's New York, it is burnt-out private detective Harry Angel's daily business to track down missing persons. Twelve years ago, any trace of singer Johnny Favorite is lost in the confusion of the war. The first witnesses he wants to give a going-over he finds with a bullet in their heads. He is also too late to find Favorite's former lover, a both attractive and mysterious fortuneteller. Angel is being suspected for murder and desperately tries to get rid of the job. His client Louis Cyphre cynically raises his professional fee, though. The traces to Johnny Favorita are getting bloodier and bloodier - the routine case becomes a horror trip...

Review:
The 80s were a real decade of success for actor Mickey Rourke, in which he became Hollywood's new superstar with films like Rumble Fish (1983), Year of the Dragon (1985) and Nine 1/2 Weeks (1986). Additionally, Rourke was in high regards of the critics and titled an exceptional talent, his silver screen presence even compared to the ones of James Dean, Marlon Brando and Humphrey Bogart. The occult-thriller Angel Heart of the year 1987 is possibly the best film of his carreer. With the help of its fantastic atmosphere, the clever story and of course the excellent actors Rourke and De Nire, this classic manages to draw the audience completely in. A fascinating-clawly horror trip with an extremely bitter ending!
