Comparison between the TV Version and the extended DVD Version (both featured on the DVD Box "Volume 7")

5 new/extended scenes two of them with alternative frame material
+ 6 scenes with sound censoring, three of them with alternative frame material
+ 1 additional scene in the TV version

Difference: 173.1 sec. (= 2:53 min)

While Family Guy due to the early broadcasting time on national TV is censored from time to time some episodes have been in principle extended for the DVD release or are shown for the first time in an uncensored version.
The US Box-Set "Volume 7" includes all shortened TV versions as bonus material on the DVDs.

Unfortunately they took small pains with the Box packaging. Whereas all the discs of the previous seasons were stored in several slim cases packed in a stable case, the "Volume 7" discs come up in a single Amaray Case. The listing of the episodes without the summaries can be found on the back of the cover. The ensemble is encased by an O-Ring.
Even itís a minor matter, itís a pity. Apart from that the release is again equipped with lots of bonus material and has an audio comment for each episode.

The actually compared 2nd episode of the 7th season "I Dream of Jesus" runs about 3 minutes longer. This refers mainly to the extension in the second half where Peter and Jesus join a party of Paris Hilton and Peter performs a Musical sequence.
All other (minor) changes have been made due to censorship reasons especially the different pronounced "Jesus Christ!" from Peter is curious.

Time indices refer to the TV Version from the bonus material on DVD
03:36

In the darkness Peter starts earlier humming the song Surfin' Bird.

While Brian and Stewie destroy the LP in slow motion (an allusion to Office Space), a Rap Song is playing.
On DVD itís uncensored with words like "motherfucker", "nigger", "shit", "erection" and so on but in TV they showed a clean version where all these words have been switched to mute.

Itís a very strange sound censoring at this point.

TV: "Ah, you know, Jesus, if I go get my cell phone, would you mind talking to my friend Muriel Goldman? I really just want to rub her jewish nose in this."
DVD: "Ah, you know, Jesus, if I go get my cell phone, would you mind talking to my friend Muriel Goldman? I really just want to stick this up her ass."

TV version runs about 0.2 sec longer

On DVD Jesus performs a gimmick.

He says:"Well, I never thought I'd say this, but I...have had...a blast!" and conjures a playing card which at once goes up in smoke.
Peter applauds.

In the TV version the first single frames of the following animation differs due to connection reasons.

For whatever reason Jesus says:"Well, I better get some sleep, I gotta open the store tomorrow" in the TV version in the same closer animation and in the DVD version there is little further away view.

After Jesus asked for a "Cracked" magazine there is an unusual sound censoring.

In both versions Peter says:"Jesus Christ, unbelievable!", but this sentence has been changed. In the TV version Peter just talks to Jesus directly while the DVD version due to different intonation reasons can be obviously recognized as a curse ( where in this context words like "God(damn)" or "Jesus Christ!" as is well known not welcome in the US TV).

16:34

After the compilation of title pages from Jesus the MTV Movie Awards start in the TV version.
In the DVD version due to Jesus the Griffin Family arrives at a Party from Paris Hilton followed by a musical sequence with Peter and Jesus.

The doorman retains them from the main entrance and Peter says: "Ah, yes, we're here for the Paris Hilton party."
Doorman: "Who the hell are you?"
Peter: "I'm Peter Griffin from Family Guy."
Doorman: "Never heard of it."
Jesus means from the back: "It's all right, T, they're with me."
Both exchanges high fives and the doorman says: Hey, JC, what's up? You guys are good to go."
They walk in and Meg notices: "Wow, a Paris Hilton party. This is so cool!"
Peter talks to Paris Hilton: "Hey, Paris, I'm a friend of Jesus'. Check it out, I have a cool bag, too, and it has a dog in it, just like yours."
Meg looking out of the basket means: "Hi, Paris, I'm Meg."
Paris just says: "I met Larry King."
Peter with a high voice: "Name-dropper!"

Meanwhile Stewie talks to Perez Hilton (who has spoken his role for himself in this episode); "Hey, Perez Hilton. How you doing, bitch?"
Perez: "Good, bitch. How are you, bitch."
Stewie: "Good, bitch."
Perez: "What's new, bitch?"
Stewie: "Nothing, bitch."
Perez: "Cool, bitch."
Stewie: "Bitch."

Now we can see Jesus and Peter on the porch.
Peter: "Wow, I can't believe, I'm really here. Who would've thought, me, Peter Griffin, the guy who just two weeks ago drew a smiley face on his own testicle to make his son laugh... Well, I lost my train of thought, but this is really exciting. I'm having a blast. And it's all 'cause of you, Jesus."
Jesus: "Hey, like I said, you're the one who got me here. Some might say, you're my savior."
Peter laughs and the camera moves up to the moon.

We now have the musical sequence where Peter and Jesus are singing about friendship Ė the text for reasons of simplification as subtitles within the screenshots.

Total time of 174.1 sec

17:22-17:34

Now, only in the TV version Peter is allowed to say, what he already said in the DVD version to Jesus right before the musical sequence.

"Boy. Who would have thought, me, Peter Griffin, the guy who just two weeks ago drew a smiley face on his own testicle to make his son laugh... Well, I've lost my train of thought. But yeah, that's my buddy Jesus."

In the DVD version Peter uses a stronger language.

TV: "I can't believe, Jesus hasn't called me back."
DVD: "I can't believe, fucking Jesus hasn't called me back."

DVD version runs 0.4 sec. longer
