Release: Mar 16, 2011 - Author: Muck47 - Translator: Tony Montana - external link: IMDB - more from this series
Compared are the TV Version and the extended DVD Version (both available on thd DVD Box "Volume 5").

7 new / extended scenes, 3 of them with alternate footage
+ 1 audio modification

Difference: 36.9 sec

Family Guy is a huge success on FOX. But some modifications need to be made to get permission to air it on FOX because some gags are too rude for TV. Other gags have only been removed to reach the appropiate length for an episode on TV, which means not all the differences were made due to censorship. Nevertheless there are still enough hilarious, outrages gags in it so that fans are gonna have lots of fun with watching the TV Version on FOX. (I'm speaking from experience.)

BTW It airs every sunday evening on FOX. That's really nice because you can also watch the new American Dad episode and new episode of The Cleveland Show. So you've got a terrific triple feature. And when you're watching FOX anyway, you can also watch the latest Simpsons episode. I can really imagine worse evening than watching the latest episodes of the series by Seth MacFarlane plus some new adventures of Homer & Co.

The DVD Version of episode 5x13 "Bill And Peter's Bogus Journey" is much longer on DVD. Even though the DVD Version isn't that longer, this episode is one the most censored episodes ever. Apart from some naughty comments from Quagmire and Bill Clinton (no surprise that Clinton didn't agree to speak the lines for his character), the ad with guest Roy Scheide is pretty conspicuous. As usual, the FCC doesn't like crap jokes, that's why modification had to be made for the TV.

Time index refers to the TV Version.
06:28

After the bodyguard informed Peter about Bill Clinton's flat tire in front of his house, Peter also says on DVD: "Boy, that guy is really horny, isn't he?"

(Reference to a BJ because his exact words were: "He blew a tire".)

2.6 sec

Alternate footage
09:04-09:09

When Roy Scheider pulls off his pants in the toilet training video, his comment is different.

TV: "It's all about relaxing and letting your body do what it does naturally."
DVD: "It's not really about pushing as much as just relaxing and letting your body do what it does naturally."

Furthermore the end of the animation is longer in the DVD Version. One can also see his bare legs.

DVD Version 1.5 sec longer

Audio modification
09:11-09:14

Odd modification in the audio track, combined with an extension at the end.

While Stewie's speaking from the off, the DVD Version contains the sound of Roy Scheider taking a crap. Then he says: "Now here's Susan Saint James to help me wipe". Stewie lowers his eye lids disgustedly.
The TV Version doesn't contain the sound of Scheider taking a dump. Instead it contains an alternate comment of him at the beginning: "Now here's Susan Saint James to powder my ass."

(First screen as illustration of the audio modification, the seond one shows the footage exclusively on DVD.)

DVD Version 2.6 sec longer

Alternate footage
14:21-14:24

After Bill Clinton nailed Lois, the version continue differently.

TV:
Bill: "Hey, you wanna give me that cigar? I'm ready to smoke it now."

DVD:
Bill: "Hey, you up for a little NAFTA?"
Lois: "What's that?"
Bill: "'Nother afternoon fucking that ass."
He laughs.

DVD Version 3.9 sec longer

After Bill asked Lois for "exit poling", the scene continues in the DVD Version.
Lois: "Are you asking me what I think you're asking me?"
Bill: "Well, that depends on what your definition of the word 'jizz' is..."

5.6 sec

15:47

Only on DVD, Quagmire offers Peter an unusual method to cheer him up. Pretty obvious why that wasn't on TV.

Quagmire: "You want me to drag my sack across your face?"
Peter: "What?"
Quagmire: "I'm sorry, it's...When one of my lady friends is upset, that's how I cheer... Listen, Peter, this is all I know. I'm not very good in these types of situations."

12.9 sec

Alternate footage
16:03-16:14

When Peter goes to the door to talk to Lois, the used footage is different although the dialog itself remains unchanged. The reason is simple. On in the DVD Version, Quagmire comes along again and offers the same he offered before twice.
The versions continue with equal footage when a shot shows Peter's back. The bold marked text is missing in the TV Version.

Peter: "What do you want?"
Lois: "Honey, I just feel awful about this whole situation."
Quagmire arrives: "Oh, I'm sorry, Lois. You want me to drag my sack across your face?"
Peter: "Not now, Quagmire!"
Quagmire: "Ah, sorry, I didn't... That's a mistake... I'll go make her some coffee."

Lois: "Peter I think I've got a solution that'll make things right for both of us."
Peter: "I'm listening."
