This one is a little bit difficult to explain. The original version of the game is called "Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty". Later they released an extended version which is called "Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance". Only (!) the US PS2 version of the original game (=Sons of liberty) is uncensored. Every other version worldwide seems to have the censorship. As far as we know this concerns
The game's content was extended a little compared to the US-variant, but also alleviated.
The open wounds of the dead marines in the tanker-episode were removed.
Blood is depicted faintly or is not visible at all any more.
The cutscene with the corpse in the locker was changed like this, too.
There is less blood spraying as Revolver Ocelot shoots a mercenary in the face on Deck 2.
There is much less blood as one of the Navy Seals is killed in the first cutscene with Vamp on the oil rig.
A little gore was retouched on the uniforms of two of the Seals who are lying around after the massacre.
The encounter with bomb specialist Peter Stillman, resp. his body has also been changed. The blood effects in the cutscene are minimized and the perspectives have been changed a little.
