Besides the "Metal Slug"-series programmed by SNK, the "Contra"-series is one of the best 2D shooter series ever made. In Europe the series is known under a different name: "Probotector". If the censorship of the European versions wouldn't be annoying enough, the choice of the new name is quite confusing, especially because not one, but THREE games of the "Contra"-series ("Contra" on the NES, "Operation C" on Game Boy and "Contra: Hard Corps" on Sega's Mega Drive) were simply called "Probotector" in Europe, even though the games were completely different. Only from the Playstation game "Contra: Legacy of War" onwards European gamers were finally able to play uncensored games of the series - all later games were no longer altered/censored.
