Release: Jan 26, 2013 - Author: Preacher - Translator: DaxRider123
In the US issues 51 and 52 of "Preacher" you get a flashback that tells you about Tulip's youth. Her mother died when she was born and her father - a patriotic, weapon-infatuated American - raises her like a boy. He tells her how to shoot and to love her country. When he dies during a hunting-accident, Tulip suddenly is all on her own...
PREACHER is a very harsh series that nevertheless was able to escape any form of censorship. However, when a few juveniles decided to kill a few people in their school with guns back in 1999, DC Comics decided to change the cover for issue number 52, even though the original cover was already finished.
The original cover shows little Tulip, whose fahter gives her a gun for christmas. Since the topic "guns" was too precarious at the time (the general perception was "guns are not for kids"), Glenn Fabry had to draw a new cover quickly. This new cover - which in the end was the issues actual cover - only shows Tulip's face.
On the left side you see the cover which was printed for issue #52. On the right side you see the original cover, which DC in the end didn't allow to be printed.
