Reign of Assassins: UK Get the Shorter Cut, Too
International Version in More Territories

While the Kung Fu movie Dark Stone - Reign of Assassins (Jian Yu) was shown in Asian cinemas already back in 2010, it took 2 more years for a distribution in Europe. The UK even took a little longer and will get the film on DVD and Blu-ray on February 25th, 2013.

Unfortunately, it will once more only be the international version of the film which is more than 10 minutes shorter than the original cut with approx. 120 minutes of runtime. This one is only available in Asia.

That is not unusual since it is almost a basic rule that modern Kung Fu films from China get cut for the international market. Our archive has stored some other examples of previous cases (War of the Arrows, The Sorcerer and the White Snake) and just some days ago, we had to report that Wong Kar-Wai's upcoming Grandmaster is also shorter in the West. What a shame.
