Black Mass - Gangster Drama Drops Sienna Miller

Johnny Depp Thriller Removes Her Role

The crime thriller Black Mass starring Johnny Depp as the Boston gangster Whitey Bulger is currently celebrated by critics and could be an opportunity for Depp to raise his profile apart from his Jack Sparrow role. Actress Sienna Miller will not partake in the film's success, though, as her role as Bulger's girlfriend was cut from the final version of the film.

Director Scott Cooper confirmed and explained this decision because they wanted to concentrate more on Bulger's time in Boston and keep other parts of the movie - such as the hiding from the FBI where Miller's role would have been most of the time - shorter.

The scenes could maybe end up on the Blu-ray later on, either as deleted scenes or in a longer cut of the movie itself.
