Avengers: Age of Ultron - Extended Cut Scrapped?

Joss Whedon Doesn't Believe There is Demand

Just as the film was released in cinemas, we reported that Amazon.co.uk listed an Extended Cut for the home video release of The Avengers 2: Age of Ultron was underway. That was especially interesting since there were many deleted scenes. It was also known that Joss Whedon couldn't realize of the things he wanted to show in the sequel. The Marvel bosses seemed to have other plans for several aspects than the director.

That's another reason why it's a shame that Whedon doesn't show interest in putting together an alternate version of the film. His statement to Collider reads:

It has always been my ambition never to do a director’s cut of anything, and always to make the movie with the studio that we both want to make. Ultron was very complex. There was a lot of back-and-forth. My instinct is no. Just as an artist, I’m super fucking lazy and that sounds like it would be hard. I don’t think there’s interest in it, right now. You’ll see a bunch of stuff on the DVD in extras that were meant to be there. But the narrative came together very close to the way that I hoped it would, and I don’t think it needs me to constantly tweak it.

Somehow, we just read this as: "I'm too lazy to do more." What a shame.

The Blu-ray doesn't have a release date yet.
