Marvel & Netflix Eyeing Punisher and Blade Series

The Necessary Violence Level Could Be Problematic

A theatrical film starring The Punisher, Blade or Ghost Rider is rather unlikely to come from Marvel Studios in the near future since they concentrate more on heroes that are easier to sell to PG-13 mass audiences. But after the great success of the Daredevil series on Netflix considerations arise to install those characters in phase 2 of the series plan.

Rumors regarding Punisher circulate for several weeks already, especially as he seems to fitting for Netflix and basically nowhere else at Marvel. But Blade and Ghost Rider are new ideas at Netflix. But that also raises the question about the violence. Marvel wanted its heroes to be suitable for the youth, even at Netflix. Nudity or coarse language are a no-go while no one could not be satisfied with the violence level of the street level heroes. That should be sufficient for Blade and Punisher.

More details on "phase 2" at Netflix will surely surface when Marvel's A.K.A. Jessica Jones airs in autumn 2015 and maybe continues Daredevil's success.
