The Gunman - Sean Penn Fights R-Rated

Action Production Dismisses PG-13 Rating

While Taken 3 was the latest member of the long line action productions that got severely censored for the PG-13 rating in cinemas and got its unrated treatment later on home video, the newest genre entry won't share that fate. The Gunman, Sean Penn's shot at mimicking the success Liam Neeson had with an unexpected action carreer renaissance, will start in US theaters with the "R" rating.

Rated R for strong violence, language and some sexuality

It's quite a relief that The Gunman doesn't come with often witnessed censorship baggage right from the start. US and UK theaters get it on March 20th, 2015.
