Horns With Pre-Cuts in British Cinemas

Alexandre Aja Horror Censored for BBFC 15 Rating

England, ole England, your moviegoers do have a tough time in recent years. This year is especially brutal as the films pile up that have been cut for lower ratings in order to earn the distributors more money. And after yesterday's news about the censored Maze Runner, here we go with the next one. Alexandre Aja's horror film Horns starring Daniel Radcliffe.

The BBFC would have given the uncut version the 18 rating but pre-cuts made by the distributor secured the lower 15 rating. The BBFC's database has the following info to share:

During post-production, the distributor sought and was given advice on how to secure the desired classification. Following this advice, certain changes were made prior to submission

This work was originally seen for advice. The company was advised that the film was likely to receive an 18 certificate but that their preferred 15 classification could be achieved by making cuts to reduce a scene of sexual violence and to reduce a very strong gory image. When the film was submitted for formal classification, edits had been made and the film was classified 15.
