Nightbreed - Upcoming Release is not the Cabal Cut
We've already assembled quite a few news regarding the ominous Cabal Cut of the Clive Barker adaptation Nightbreed. Fans fought for it for years because it was known that the studio didn't like the initial version of the film and demanded cuts to shorten it by a tremendous 45 minutes for theaters. But the years of patience and a strong petition made the studio executives reconsider and led to a regular release of said Cabal Cut.
But now there's a statement from the producers that might make fans somewhat nervous. The upcoming release, which is set for 2014 but hasn't got an exact date yet, will not feature this version. They had the following to say about it:
So, basically speaking, the Cabal Cut wasn't much more than an assembly cut, which every film has to begin with. It is all the material that had been shot and basically an incoherent mess without pacing. It is the rough material that is then given form in the editing room until a presentable film is made out of it. And that has been done here, as well, which isn't really a reason to be nervous about since the majority of the fans will want to see a longer cut that makes sense rather than a collection of new scenes loosely tied to each other. So, be excited for "The Director's Cut" from this point on. We certainly are.
