Sorcerer gets Blu-ray Release With Director's Cut

William Friedkin's Action Classic Remastered in HD

Last year, we could report that there was a happy end in sight for William Friedkin's adventure thriller Sorcerer. After some legal chaos with two studios that couldn't decide on who owns the film, the ultimate release of the film now lies ahead.

While the US has always had Friedkin's desired version, several other markets only got an international cut of the movie. This is almost 40 minutes shorter and features some new scenes (see comparison) but is overall inferior to the US version.

And the latter version is the one that gets a new release on DVD and Blu-ray on April 22nd, 2014. For that, the director supervised a new 4K master and a new sound mixing process. The potential for greatness is there. You can order the new release at Amazon.com.
