The Hobbit - Part 1: MPAA Rates Extended Cut

PG-13 and a Little Nudity

Early on, it was communicated that there will be an Extended Cut of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. After some complications with the announcements, the final release date is set around christmas 2013.

According to Peter Jackson, his Extended Cut is going to be 20-25 minutes longer than the theatrical version but there aren't a lot of details known about the new material. Empire had some info on a few scenes but apart from that, we'll just have to wait and see. A little hint is now also delivered by the MPAA, which rated the new version of the movie with a PG-13 rating.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Extended Cut
Rated PG-13 For extended sequences of intense fantasy action violence, frightening images and fleeting nudity

The rating of the Extended Cut adds "fleeting nudity" to the description. Hobbit fans can look forward to some PG-13-compatible bareness. Now, isn't that something...?

In the meantime, the theatrical cut is out for sale for quite some time now. You can order the Blu-ray at Amazon.com oder Amazon.co.uk.
