The Devil Rides Out - UK Blu-ray Has New Effects

F/X Were Reworked For HD Release

Hammer Films continues its cooperation with several other studios and brings classic movies from its film stock onto the British market. Unfortunately, they don't always deliver what fans want. While the Blu-ray of Dracula: Prince of Darkness released by StudioCanal suffered from heavy DNR usage and therefore offers a questionable transfer, Hammer Films manages to fail in a different way with the upcoming release of The Devil Rides Out on October 22nd, 2012.

Here, they directly tampered with the film and reworked several F/X scenes for the Blu-ray release.

The British blog SFX shows some of the alterations and helps fans to decide for themselves:

Original version                                                Blu-ray

By the way: The recently released British Blu-ray of The Curse of Frankenstein isn't without problems either since the framing seems to be incorrect. Of course, Hammer Films thinks otherwise and said so in their blog.
