Twice Born - Director Wants to Release Longer Cut
The drama Twice Born is based on a novel and tells the story of a lone mother (Penelope Cruz) and her adolescent son who return to Serbia where their husband and father died in the war back in the 90's.
In an interview with Collider, director Sergio Castellitto shared some info about his film. He said that his first cut was 4.5 hours long and since that is a little too much for a theatrical screening, he had to shorten it drastically. It was hard for him to manage that but none of the characters was cut out entirely.
In order to give the film a little more substance afterwards, he'd like to produce an Extended Director's Cut and would like to show it in cinemas since film piracy is a big problem in Italy.
Currently, Twice Born hits several festivals but we'll see how Castellitto's aspirations regarding the versions of his movie turn out once the film is offered for release in the bigger markets.
