The Avengers - Disney Comments on Censorship
- important plot part is revealed -
In the meantime, Disney released a statement regarding the German version of The Avengers. Amazon.de put it on their site, as well. In the statement, the label states that during post-production, two versions of The Avengers were produced. The only difference is the sequence where Agent Coulson is stabbed by the staff. One version shows how it penetrates the body completely while the other version omits this detail. Disney says that numerous countries, among them being Germany, Austria and Switzerland, got this censored version. Apart from that, both versions are absolutely identical, according to the label.
Opinions differ whether this censorship was seen in theaters or not. Fact is that not only the German-speaking home video releases are affected by this action. We could confirm that the Russian releases are cut and that the Scandinavian releases are most likely affected, as well. As we reported in the previous news, the Italian version is uncensored. UK and US have yet to be confirmed. One of our authors will shortly apply an in-depth analysis in order to check whether there might be other differences, as well.
