Savages only censored in British cinemas
Oliver Stone isn't afraid of edgy content as he has proven several times during his career. His newest film Savages doesn't seem to hold back, either. A look at the MPAA rating verifies this:
It seems that this discomforts the British distributor Universal Pictures UK to a certain extent since they wanted to release it in theaters with a BBFC 15 rating. Therefore, they submitted Savages while it was still in post-production in order to make sure that the final version would get the desired rating later. However, the contents drove the BBFC to the decision to assign it the BBFC 18 classification. This prompted Universal to cut the film. According to the BBFC's database, scenes with sexual content and violence were affected by that.
The edited version got the BBFC 15 rating and will start in British theaters on September 21st, 2012.
