G.I. Joe - Retaliation: Two endings are tested
Test screenings are standard in the film industry for many years now. They function as experimental laboratory where the studios can test how people perceive a movie before it is released broadly. On numerous occasions, such screenings lead to last-minute altercations or recuts of films. US major studio Paramount didn't seem too convinced regarding the ending of its upcoming action spectacle G.I. Joe - Retaliation, since they decided to show different endings in the screenings.
We'll see if the resulting decision yields better reactions since the first film scored pretty badly in this dimension (while still making a lot of money). This isn't a clear evidence for a longer version later on DVD/BD either, but hopefully those releases will contain the scrapped ending in the bonus section so everyone can judge for themselves.
G.I. Joe - Retaliation starts in US cinemas on June 29th, 2012 and on August 3rd, 2012 in the UK.
