Chained gets the NC-17 punishment by the MPAA
At this moment, barely anyone has seen Chained, a movie starring Vincent D'Onofrio and Julia Ormond, among others. The story centers around serial killer Bob (D'Onofrio) who kidnapped 9-year-old Tim and made him his protégé on his dark mission. When Tim is a teenager, he has to decide whether he wants to follow Bob's path or escape his destiny.
What will raise Chained's popularity a little more right now, is the NC-17 rating the MPAA just gave the movie (for some explicit violence), as RopeofSilicon reports. While the board disliked elements such as the humor, language or sexual scenes presented in other guests of the appeal process of the last couple of weeks like Bully Project, Perks of Being a Wallflower or Killer Joe, the violence in Chained is the key element this time.
As the producers announced, they will head for the appealing process as well, trying to convince the MPAA that a lower rating (here: "R") is the sufficient classification for Chained. If they are successful with the attempt will surely be communicated soon.
