Tales of Berseria - Western Release is Censored
While it's already out for PS3 and PS4 in Japan since August 18th, 2016, the Western release of the newest installment of the Tales of series titled Tales of Berseria is scheduled for January 27th, 2017. It will get releases for PS4 and PC (via Steam).
But Western fans do not only have to wait longer for the anticipated game but will also have to endure censorship. In a Youtube video published by Bandai Namco which introduces the English dub, it also became known that a cutscene was altered. A murder sequence was changed in such a way that a character is not getting stabbed by a sword but killed by magic. (see the video comparison).
After repeated questions, the official Facebook page also released a statement saying that Bandai Namco wanted to make the title available to a broad audience and that this scene would have raised the age classification. Apart from the cutscene, the Western release of Tales of Berseria is said to be identical to the Japanese version.
You can find the complete statement here.
